BLiSS welcomes students of all experience levels to our classes and all teachers will suggest moderations to moves in class to ensure that even beginners will enjoy the classes. However, our classes do range from meditation and lower-intensity flow classes up to intense workouts – so be sure to pick a juicy factor that is right for you.
Discover Aerial Yoga
Please see description for Aerial Yoga. A minimum of five (5) Discover Aerial classes are required before attending the regular class to familiarize yourself with the fundamental moves and Aerial Yoga vocabulary.
Aerial Yoga is practiced on a soft fabric trapeze suspended at waist-height from the ceiling. Combining acrobatic arts and anti-gravity yoga asana, it is fun and playful, but also helps find more length in the spine and alignment in yoga poses. We kindly ask that you attend a minimum of five (5) Discover Aerial classes as a prerequisite. Additionally, do not use hand lotion before class, wear jewellery, belts, or clothing with snaps, grommets, gems or anything that could potentially snag the fabric. Avoid shorts or baggy pants.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Mysore Style
This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with progressive series of postures – a process producing intense inner heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. Mysore style is the traditional method for practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
The class is packed with functional exercises inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. Unlike traditional Pilates, however, Barre work is done standing. The barre is used as a prop to balance while focusing on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles), combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. By challenging the body in a functional standing position, we can be incredibly aware of postural imbalance. By adding small weights and using body weight for resistance, this class activates the entire physique. Note: Although Barre is ballet-inspired, it is not a dance class. It is accessible and challenging for all ages and abilities. No dance, yoga or Pilates background required. Dress as you would for a Pilates class; no so socks or shoes are needed.

With it’s emphasis on long held passive poses, the practice of Yin yoga mobilizes and strengthens deep connective tissues – bones, joints, ligaments, and deep fascial networks – our yin tissues. Yin yoga provides a balance to the active muscular forms of yoga that are commonly practiced. Yin’s long held postures allow one to slow down, look inward , practice mindfully with attention and intention. In Yin, we don”t use our body to get into a pose, we use the pose to get into our body. Accessible to everyone, and therapeutic for all layers of self.
