This is a foundational course connecting the yoga certified (200 hour minimum) teacher for leading loving and learning the groundations to flow on the water in SUP Yoga.
The 50 hour course will provide insight, practical, experiential and hands on discovery of the asana on the board. Safety, sound, support and creativity will be addressed with a foundational flow to get you started. The SHiNEOLOGY Yoga System and its fundamental assets to the advancement and playful, grateful approach to a full life will be supported sweetly throughout the course. The advancement of practice and play on the water for all levels will be addressed.
The love of water, the love of fierce openheartedness and the prerequisite of certification in yoga, preferably the SHiNE OM Yoga is essential.

When you find you lack focus, try this mindful breathing technique, suggests Ann Green, founder and director of BLiSS Ann Green Yoga Studio and owner of SHiNE OM Yoga. With your right hand, bring your pointer finger and middle finger to rest between your eyebrows, and get ready to use your thumb and ring finger. With your hands in the hang ten or call me position, close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out through your nose and close your right nostril with your right thumb. Then, inhale through the left nostril slowly and steadily, then close off your left nostril (so both are closed) and hold the breath in for a second or two. Then, open your right nostril and release the breath slowly through the right side. Repeat this for a total of one minute or about six rounds of inhalation and exhalation.”
Learn the basics of the Iyengar method from the ground up. Understand how to effectively tap into the concepts of gravity, direction, and the elements of earth and space in your yoga practice. Taught by certified Iyengar yoga teacher, Lori Berenz, you will learn the essentials of alignment, biomechanics, prop use and individualized modifications of classical Hatha yoga poses.

Lori Berenz is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher at the Intermediate level. She has been studying with Senior Iyengar yoga teachers since 1998. Over the years, Lori’s love of yoga inspired her to focus on teaching yoga and leave behind her corporate career of fifteen years in the field of Human Resources Management. She understands the challenges of balancing family, career and trying to implement yogic practices into a modern lifestyle. Yoga has given Lori numerous benefits and has transformed every aspect of her life. Lori is truly grateful for the gift of yoga and is passionate about the continuous learning it provides.
As a teacher, Lori draws from her own personal experiences to work with each individual student at a level that is appropriate for them. Through detailed instruction and personal attention, Lori encourages each student to challenge themselves so that they can reap the benefits of a robust yoga asana and pranayama practice. Lori regularly attends workshops, Pranayama and Sadhana intensives to hone and deepen her understanding and learning. Lori has studied several times with the Iyengar family at RIMYI (Iyengar Institute) in Pune, India and continues to participate in the teacher training program at Yoga Centre Toronto in preparation for her next level of certification.
